Full description from organizerShow less
At Girl in Motion, we bring migrant women entrepreneurs in Aotearoa together through community, storytelling and practical opportunities to build thriving businesses. We choose to see migration through a lens of power and possibility. But that doesn't mean we're blind to the challenges in front of us. We know what it takes to make that call in a language that still isn't quite yours. To calm your nervous system after someone's made you feel like you don't belong. To try to keep it together when a client asks if you miss home. Because we know exactly what it takes to build something here from nothing, we're on a mission to change the narrative and get Aotearoa to see us as the ambitious, capable, extraordinary women we really are. Until that shift happens, there's only one thing we can control: ourselves. How we carry ourselves. How we speak to ourselves. How we show up. This event is about giving you real tools for that. A night for migrant women entrepreneurs, whatever stage your business is at 💃🏻 The evening at a glance • Learn how our experiences shape the beliefs running in the background when we speak • A hands-on Rapid Transformational Therapy taster to notice what's really getting in the way of speaking with confidence • Simple movement and breath techniques to regulate stress and release tension • A guided reset to help you arrive, present in body and mind • A room full of migrant women entrepreneurs who understand the journey • Drinks, nibbles, and real connection 🫶🏻 What to Expect The event opens with a session from Marisa Gonzalez, an RTT (Rapid Transformational Therapy) and NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) Master Practitioner who's spent years working with people who communicate in a second language, looking at what's really getting in the way when we try to speak with confidence. You'll get a simple look at how the mind works, how our experiences shape the beliefs and automatic responses we carry, and how that shows up when you're speaking in a language that isn't your first. You'll also get to experience a hands-on RTT taster session where you'll notice, first-hand, the thoughts and reactions that might be quietly running the show when you speak. The evening finishes with a session led by Camila Paviani (Mia), reconnecting with your body. Mia works with movement, dance and breath to help people release tension, regulate emotion and reconnect to themselves, and she'll bring all of that into the room with us. Expect gentle guided movement. Space to tune into your body and notice what it's telling you, to get curious about your own patterns, the habits and blind spots you might not usually notice. She will share simple tools using movement and breath you can use to manage stress and release tension, long after the night is over. You set the pace. No pressure to move more than feels right. The idea is that you will leave with practical tools and awareness for your mind and body that you can actually use as you navigate the journey of building a business as a migrant woman. Then it's drinks, nibbles, and time to connect with other like-minded migrant women entrepreneurs. With a big thanks to AcademyEx, our amazing sponsors who help us offer this event free of charge for every woman who walks through the door. Meet your practitioners Marisa Gonzalez is a Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) and NLP Master Practitioner and Educator, supporting people to transform patterns and beliefs that can affect confidence and change. Through MindfulLingua, she brings this approach to speakers of English as a second language, exploring how these patterns shape the way we see ourselves, communicate and respond. Camila Paviani (Mia) works with movement, dance and breath to help people release tension, connect with themselves, and manage stress. She's trained in Dance and Movement Therapy, Psychosomatic interventions, Pilates, Mobility and Yoga, and has spent years creating spaces, mostly for women, to express themselves and connect through movement. About Girl in Motion Girl in Motion is a space built by migrant women, for migrant women. We are on a mission to change the narrative and celebrate the ambition, drive, and impact of migrant women in Aotearoa. Through stories, community, and practical tools, we help women back their ideas and build the life they moved here for.
