Not Your Typical Induction

When 1,300 people join your organisation through a major transition, induction becomes more than a welcome pack and a first-day presentation. This showcase explores how Auckland Council is reinventing induction through the Kaimahi Experience (KX) programme, using data, human-centred design and organisational insight to create an experience centred on belonging, connection and success. We'll share our journey so far, from launching a redesigned pre-induction experience to establishing Auckland Council's first People Leader Peer Coaching programme, a capability-building initiative designed to create lasting impact long after the transition is complete. Part innovation story, part learning design case study, this session will appeal to L&D professionals interested in applying bold thinking, leveraging internal expertise, and creating learning solutions that become organisational legacy. We'd love to hear your examples too. For the second half of this session we'll embrace BLAT's focus of innovation, networking and collaboration and invite anyone to share their best induction story. Whether they have developed it or experienced it as a new employee.
