Welcome to Garden Life Garden Life is the Society's monthly meeting - a two hour programme of gardening tips and socialising including a main and mini speaker of horticultural interest. __________________________________________________________ 2026 Programme Garden Life October Tuesday 6th 6pm & Wednesday 7th 1pm Main Speaker: Matthew Cromey What’s Wrong With My Plant & What do I do about it. A lesson in determining the cause of a perceived problem. Dr. Matthew Cromey was a Senior Plant Pathologist at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) in the UK. He developed strategies to manage diseases affecting ornamental and edible plants, combining RHS research findings with other sources to provide effective advice. While living in New Zealand, his work included diagnosing plant problems, conducting field research, and collaborating with various stakeholders to manage garden diseases. Dr. Cromey contributed to numerous scientific publications on plant pathology. Mini Speaker: Anna Wilkinson, Canterbury Hydrangeas Canterbury Hydrangeas is a family-owned flower farm just west of Christchurch, growing hydrangeas, dahlias, sunflowers, amaranthus and foliage. Anna will share the story behind the farm, from its beginnings to her passion for growing hydrangeas.
