Improvisation Workshop with Lana Law

The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as players with some experience who would like to develop their skills, explore new ideas or simply have their improvisation questions answered. Bring your instrument and come ready to play, experiment and have some fun! This workshop will take place in the Philip Carter Family Concert Hall. She went on to complete a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance at Massey University before touring internationally as a professional musician. A passionate music educator, Lana teaches students individually and in groups, both privately and as an itinerant music teacher and band director in schools. She is the co-founder, Music Director and lead alto of New Zealand’s first all-female big band, The All Girl Big Band, and is the former Music Director of the Garden City Big Band. She has been Music Director of the Christchurch Youth Jazz Orchestra (CYJO) since 2021. Lana performs with a variety of musical groups and is in demand as a session musician and adjudicator throughout New Zealand. This workshop is part of the Christchurch Big Band Jazz Festival.
