Jake Baxendale / Isaac Smith / Andrew Wright + Friends

Pōneke saxophonist Jake Baxendale is bringing a brand new trio to the 03 Sessions, a project so rarefied and monastic in nature that this will be only their second gig in five years! Jake has been in regular philosophical and musical discussion with bassist Isaac Smith and drummer Andy Wright since completing his Masters in Music on the subject of improvisation in 2021: the group has practiced regularly together in the pursuit of a unique improvising aesthetic – warm, open, searching, radical in outlook but unafraid of danceable groove, lyriciscm, consonance or romantic feeling. Performing off the cuff, never-before-heard material that will never be heard again, they will be joined in the second set by a choice selection of Ōtautahi's finest improvisers. 03 SESSIONS // Original and improvised music from Ōtautahi and beyond. $20 - Students with I.D., Early Bird & 03 Members $25 - Presale General Admission $30 - Door Sales Presale via Humanitix or cash/EFTPOS on the door 03 Memberships are available at ko-fi.com/03sessions MORE ON THE MUSOS Jake Baxendale is a saxophonist, clarinettist and composer originally from Mohua/Golden Bay.
