How to Plan a Festival Weekend
A festival-hopping weekend is more fun when it's loosely planned than when it's wide open — not a minute-by-minute schedule, just enough structure that you're not deciding everything on the day.
Start with the weekend view
On any city page, switching the date filter to “this weekend” narrows the list to what's actually happening in your window, instead of scrolling past everything scheduled for next month.
Build a shortlist by category first
Before picking times, filter by category to see the shape of the weekend — music, food and drink, outdoor, family — and note two or three that interest you. It's easier to fit a schedule around a short list than to fight through everything on offer.
Check nearby cities too
City pages have a toggle to include events in nearby cities, not just the one you're on. Festivals often cluster around a metro area rather than sitting neatly inside one city's limits, so it's worth a look before you assume you've seen everything within reach.
Save what you're leaning toward
Keep the ones you're seriously considering in your Saved list as you go. It's a much easier way to compare five options side by side than reopening five browser tabs.
Have a backup plan
If your shortlist falls through — sold out, canceled, weather — head back to your city's event page (Near Me gets you there fastest) and switch off the category filter. A broader browse across everything happening that weekend is often enough to fill the gap without starting the search over.
On the day
Outdoor festivals mean weather and standing for hours — comfortable shoes and a water bottle matter more than most other prep. If more than one event is on the plan, build in real travel time between venues; festival crowds make a ten-minute walk take twenty.
