AI Policy Reading Group First Meeting

🗓️ Date: Wednesday, September 23rd⏰ Time: 6:00 PM🏠 Location: Farris Engineering Basement, G300 The AI Policy Reading Group brings members of the UNM community together across technical, disciplinary, and political backgrounds to seriously discuss how AI should be governed. We will consider: regulatory frameworks, pending legislation, and current events in the space. The goal is to build a diverse discussion not focused on consensus building, but on developing new ideas. We hope each participant leaves with a clearer, better-informed sense of their own vision for an effective AI regulatory regime. We will meet on Wednesdays after AI@UNM meetings in the basement of the Farris Engineering building. Join for that meeting at 5:00 if you are interested in learning about the technical elements of AI! For the first meeting, we will introduce one framework as an example: the Future of Life Institute-led Pro-Human Path for AI. It will also be a chance for interested folks to meet each other and collectively set the structure for the semester. Whether you build these systems, study them, worry about them, or just want to understand the arguments, joining us for the first meeting is a good place to start. Bring a friend!
