Monks & Wine: How The Church Shaped Wine in France

Join our Wine Director Erin Dudley to sip a collection of fine French wines while discussing the history of the Catholic Church in wine. For generations, the Catholic Church controlled the production of wine throughout France. We can thank Catholic monks for many of the advancements of wine production, especially in Burgundy and Champagne. The Church invested great time and resources on establishing vineyard sites and researching winemaking methods that we continue to use today.
