Patternist Series Reading Group

Kim & Nicole are taking on Octavia Butler’s Patternist series over 2027, diving into one book every other month. Are you looking for a yearlong reading project for 2027? Kim & Nicole are taking on Octavia Butler’s Patternist series over 2027, diving into one book every other month in this classic Sci Fi series. For the first time in nearly 50 years, Survivor has come back into print, so we’re excited to take this opportunity to explore this series! This was a controversial decision by Butler’s estate, and we’ll explore why Butler originally pulled it from print and the decision to make it available again in our last session. Whether you’re a regular & devoted SF reader like Kim, or more of a dabbler who loves a literary controversy like Nicole, we welcome all readers to this group! What is a reading group? It's a little more structured than a book club and way less formal than a class. We read the text and learn from each other through discussion! We are bundling tickets for all five sessions together, as each discussion will build on the previous sessions. We are also offering a bundle that includes copies of all five books with their 2026 covers with your ticket to all five sessions. The planned book for each session will be: • 2.21.27 - Patternmaster • 4.18.27 - Mind of my Mind • 6.27.27 - Wildseed • 8.22.27 - Clay’s Ark • 10.17.27 - Survivor *Please note the reading order - we will be reading in modified publication order.
