Beyond the Book - A Book Discussion The summer session was selected after recently reading America, U.S.A.: How Race Shadows the Nation's Anniversaries, by Eddie S. Glaude Jr. and in commemoration of this Country's 250th Anniversary. Two books have been selected, you may read one or both. • Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass: An American Slave • How the Word Is Passed: A Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across America
