The Great Lakes Ghost Hunters of Michigan will teach kids, 16 and Under with a Parent or Guardian, how to Ghost Hunt responsibly. Kids Ghost Hunt: Learn to Investigate ResponsiblyDate: Friday, October 23, 2026 Time: 6:00–7:00 PM Presented by: Great Lakes Ghost Hunters of Michigan Length: 1 Hour Join the Great Lakes Ghost Hunters of Michigan for a fun, educational introduction to paranormal investigating designed especially for kids! During this one-hour program, young investigators will learn that responsible ghost hunting isn't about screaming, running through dark buildings, or trying to provoke a ghost. Instead, they'll learn how paranormal investigators use observation, patience, technology, research, and critical thinking when investigating reports of unusual activity. 6:00–6:10 PM — Welcome & Ghost Hunting Rules Meet the Great Lakes Ghost Hunters and learn the basic rules of responsible paranormal investigation. Kids will learn about respecting historic buildings, private property, artifacts, other investigators, and—of course—the people who may have once lived there. 6:10–6:20 PM — Meet the Equipment Investigators demonstrate some of the equipment commonly used during investigations, such as: • EMF meters • Digital audio recorders • Spirit boxes • Flashlights • Temperature meters • Motion or proximity devices • Cameras and other recording equipment Kids will learn what each device actually measures and why investigators should never assume that every unusual reading is paranormal. 6:20–6:30 PM — How to Investigate Learn how to conduct an investigation correctly. Kids will practice asking respectful questions, remaining quiet while recording, making observations, documenting evidence, and looking for ordinary explanations before calling something paranormal. 6:30–6:50 PM — Mini Ghost Hunt It's investigation time! With Great Lakes Ghost Hunters supervising, the kids will participate in a short, age-appropriate paranormal investigation. They'll get a chance to observe equipment, ask questions during an EVP session, watch for environmental changes, and practice documenting anything unusual they notice. No provoking, séances, rituals, Ouija boards, or intentionally frightening activities will be used. 6:50–7:00 PM — Evidence & Wrap-Up Everyone comes back together to discuss what happened during the investigation. Was that strange noise a ghost—or the building settling? Did an EMF meter react because of something unexplained—or was there an electrical source nearby? The Great Lakes Ghost Hunters will show kids why critical thinking is one of the most important pieces of ghost-hunting equipment they can have. The Investigator's Promise Young investigators will be encouraged to remember: Be respectful. Be safe. Be curious. Document what happens. Look for normal explanations first. Never trespass. And never call something a ghost just because you can't immediately explain it. The goal isn't to prove that every strange experience is paranormal—it's to investigate responsibly and see where the evidence leads.
