Dive into the wild side of love and find out why jealousy might just be your brain’s way of protecting your relationship. A Conversation on Love, Jealousy, and Evolutionary Psychology Join a social psychologist for Jealous For a Reason: The Evolutionary Logic of Mate Guarding, an engaging exploration of one of our most misunderstood emotions. Together, we'll uncover why we fall into relationships and why we fight to keep them, and what jealousy is actually doing for us behind the scenes. From first dates to long-term commitment, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the evolutionary science behind love, jealousy, and mate guarding. What We'll Cover: • Why relationships exist at all - Explore the evolutionary functions romantic partnerships serve, and the challenges they're built to solve. • The logic behind jealousy - Discover how mate guarding evolved, and what your green-eyed moments are actually doing for you. • How psychologists study love - Get a look behind the curtain at the research methods scientists use to figure out why we behave the way we do with our partners. Whether you're endlessly curious about human behavior or just want a new lens on your own love life, you'll leave with a sharper, more scientific take on why relationships work the way they do. Don't miss this chance to connect with your After5Society. About The Speaker: Olivia Breedin, Ph.D. is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Psychology at Southern Methodist University. She earned her Ph.D. and M.S. in Social Psychology from Florida State University, where her research explored romantic relationships through both social and evolutionary lenses - including sexual satisfaction, sexism, and mate-retention behaviors. Through her work, Olivia brings together psychology and evolutionary theory to help audiences understand the science behind why we love, commit, and sometimes get jealous in our closest relationships.
