New Salem Historical Model Dedication

Join us November 12 for a special dedication of the New Salem model village. Dear Friends, Please join us at College of DuPage for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, brief remarks, and light refreshments as we unveil a historical model village of the Illinois State Historic Site New Salem Illinois. New Salem was a small frontier village that became an important chapter in American History when a young Abraham Lincoln settled there for several years beginning in 1831. Using historic blueprints, the models were made to scale by skilled carpenter Roy Jacobson. Over 22 years Mr. Jacobson meticulously reconstructed a miniature New Salem crafted with structural and architectural details. John K. Rutledge, a descendant of the town founder and a longtime friend, volunteer, and generous supporter of College of DuPage and his wife Betty Joseph were instrumental in coordinating the donation from Terri Johnson, a descendant of Mr. Jacobson. We are delighted to share this historic example of American folk art with the College of DuPage community. Thursday, Nov 12 10:30am - 11:30am 2nd floor Library Hallway - between SRC Door 2 and the Wings Student Art Gallery Please RSVP by Nov. 9 We hope you will join us for this special dedication.
