Join us for RBC's November event as we explore this month's theme, change nations, via Mehran Gul's book, "The New Geography of Innovation". About the book: A new generation of Americans believes another world is possible, yet inequality, climate change and declining health feel as stubborn as ever. So where might different answers lie? Award-winning journalist Natasha Hakimi Zapata travelled from Costa Rica to Uganda and Estonia to Singapore to find out, interviewing ministers, activists and the people living with the results. From Singapore’s affordable public housing to Costa Rica’s biodiversity law and Finland’s public schools, she takes a clear-eyed look at what each policy costs, what it delivers and what it took to get there. A hopeful, frame-shifting read on how we might live differently. Why we chose it: “Gul is undoubtedly right that we need to measure innovation against a lot of different metrics, not just market capitalisation” - Bloomberg Interested? Want to join us at our November event? Try out the club with Eventbrite - new customers only. Ticket price includes access to the Boulder Rebel Book Club event plus a welcome drink (alcoholic + non-alcoholic options available). Your host for the evening: Jen Kaarlo Mendenhall Writer, cultural storyteller, and longtime Rebel Book Club member, Jen explores ideas through the lenses of solo travel, reinvention after 40, and modern dating. Having lived in New York, London, and now Denver, she is passionate about creating welcoming spaces where curious minds connect over delicious books, discover new perspectives, and engage in conversations that linger long after the final page. Biggest RBC impact: "One Rebel Book Club evening that has stayed with me all these years was a conversation with award-winning journalist Isobel Yeung, then at VICE, around In Extremis: The Life of War Correspondent Marie Colvin. I was admittedly a little starstruck, but even more moved by how she used her voice to bring important stories to light, stories that truly deserved to be seen. The room was filled with curious minds, giving the discussion an electric energy that perfectly captured what Rebel Book Club does so well: bringing thoughtful people together to listen, reflect, and see the world a little differently." Top non-fiction book recommendations: 1. Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment, by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller 2. When the Going Was Good: An Editor's Adventures During the Last Golden Age of Magazines, by Graydon Carter 3. The Riviera Set: Glitz, Glamour, and the Hidden World of High Society, by Mary S.
