BLC Film & Fellowship

Join BLC for our 6th Annual Film & Fellowship gathering Dec. 2 at Austin Film Studios Theater. Black Leaders Collective host its annual Film & Fellowship on Wednesday, December 2, 2026, at the Austin Film Society. The free evening brings Central Texans together for short films, a community panel on the State of Black Health, and receptions before and after the program. Admission is free, and RSVP is required. This year’s program centers history, health, and the issues shaping Black communities today. It also sets the stage for BLC’s 2027 focus on the State of Black Health, including the Urban Health Summit & Expo in January 2027. · Cycles of Resilience: A Journey Through Austin’s Black History, directed by UT Austin film professor Ya’Ke Smith. The documentary follows the Black History Bike Ride on a 350-mile journey from the Texas Capitol to Galveston, the birthplace of Juneteenth. · The Pad Hustle (2024), a short comedy-drama by teenage filmmaker Kyla Holmes. A high school student starts a side hustle supplying menstrual products to classmates, shining a light on period poverty in low-income and public schools. · Normalized: America’s Unnatural Disasters (2026), from Life Anew.
