Creative Movement & Dance Night

WHO: Austin NCC community members who enjoy moving, dancing, and being part of a group without a lot of talking. Join the dance dream team of Amanda and Caroline for a joyful evening of music and movement! This event tends to be a great fit if you: Like music and enjoy moving your body, whether that is dancing, swaying, stomping, or simply watching from the edge of the circle. Do well in activities that are guided step by step, with lots of repetition and modeling. Communicate more comfortably through sound, gesture, and movement than through conversation. Are comfortable in a group where hands-on support from a support person may be part of the session. You may prefer a different event if: you are looking for choreography instruction, a structured dance class, or an evening centered on conversation. If you are new to the ATX NCC community or have not yet registered, please do so here first to become a member and gain access: Open Google Form WHAT: We will warm up together, play simple movement and mirroring games, and dance to a wide range of music. Everything is offered at several levels, so participants can join standing, seated, or from a chair at the edge of the room. WHERE: We will meet at the Odyssey School community room, located at 4407 Red River St, Austin, TX 78751. Please park or drop off by the front entrance on Ellingson Lane. We will be right inside on the right in the large community room space. ACCESSIBILITY: This event is designed for community members who do best in active, low-verbal settings with a high ratio of staff to participants. Support persons are welcome and encouraged, but please RSVP separately. The location is ground level, but the restrooms are small and not wheelchair accessible. Music will be played at a moderate volume, and a quieter area will be available for anyone who needs a break.
