Make Friends With Your Sewing Machine

Have a sewing machine that’s been collecting dust? Maybe you received it as a gift, picked one up secondhand, or bought it with every intention of learning—but never quite knew where to start. This workshop is designed to help you become comfortable with the sewing machine you already own. Together we’ll slow down and explore the basics: • Getting to know the parts of your machine • Threading the upper thread and bobbin • Understanding stitch length, stitch width, and tension • Sewing straight lines and gentle curves • Building confidence through guided practice Rather than focusing on completing a big project, this workshop is about removing the intimidation and helping you feel at home with your machine. By the end of the evening, you’ll have practiced the foundational skills you need to continue sewing with confidence. What to Bring • Your sewing machine (in working condition) • Power cord and foot pedal • Bobbin(s) • Sewing machine needles (if you have them) • Thread • Your machine manual (if available) A small amount of practice fabric will be provided. Who is this for? This workshop is a great fit if: • You own a sewing machine but aren’t sure how to use it. • It’s been years since you’ve sewn and you’d like a refresher. • You want a gentle introduction before taking on sewing projects.
