Under The Rock Presents: Lemongrass & Deer Fellow

Join us for an Under The Rock showcase featuring Lemongrass & Deer Fellow LEMONGRASS & DEER FELLOW. Under the Rock will bring together two of Austin’s most compelling musical duos for an intimate evening of harmony, storytelling, and connection. Both Lemongrass and Deer Fellow take the classic folk-duo tradition and make it distinctly their own through rich vocal harmonies, inventive instrumentation, and deeply personal songwriting. Together, they offer a perfect Under pairing: two duos, four voices, and a conversation about vulnerability, relationships, and the experiences that connect us. Lemongrass is the Austin-based duo of Taylor Rae and Sam Hodgson who will offer us amazing layered harmonies and a touch of kick drum and tambourine to create the energy of a full band with just two musicians. Their storytelling and bittersweet lyrics have led them to describe their sound as “Sour Folk” music that embraces emotional depth, heartache, and the truths beneath the surface. Deer Fellow is the Austin duo of Matt Salois and Alyssa Kelly, creating a cross-genre blend of indie folk and pop through intricate vocal harmonies, guitar, violin, keys, looping, and percussion. Their voices intertwine with an almost instrumental quality, while their carefully crafted songs explore relationships, memory, loss, longing, and the words we sometimes struggle to say. This is their second appearance on UNDER UNDER THE ROCK is an innovative series showcasing performances from top-level local artists. Facilitated by Dr. Aaron Rochlen, a Professor, Psychologist, & Music Guy, each concert features lyrical discussions and ideas for how audience members can learn, reflect, and relate from the listening experience. An award-winning presenter, “Doc Rock” frequently uses music in his courses, research, & clinical work. Under will soon be a PBS edited show—follow @undertherockatx for more details.
