Build a strong foundation for your farm operation! Led by Gail Taylor of Three Part Harmony, this workshop will focus on the importance of defining your farm's mission, values, and goals so that you have a framework to guide you as you make business decisions and get growing. We'll tackle topics like choosing a business structure, navigating legal requirements and administrative considerations, developing a farm business plan, identifying your market niche, and keeping thorough records for long-term success. About the Field School The Farm Alliance of Baltimore (FAB) is proud to launch Black Butterfly Urban Farmer Academy (BBUFA) Field School. Running from March to December, this series of hands-on workshops is intended to serve as an accessible point of entry for anyone interested in learning the seasonal fundamentals of urban agriculture. No previous farming experience is required to participate! The BBUFA Field School's schedule is split up into three sessions: spring, summer, and fall. The majority of instruction will take place on site at FAB's teaching farm in South Baltimore, with occasional classroom sessions depending on content. Learn more about the history of the Black Butterfly Urban Farmer Academy program on our website. About the Facilitator Gail Taylor is the founder of Three Part Harmony Farm in Washington, DC, and the owner of Gail's Forever Farm located in Brandywine, MD. She spent her early childhood years in Illinois surrounded by corn and soybean fields, but has dedicated her life to growing high quality nutrient dense vegetables for her community in DC and Prince George’s County, Maryland, because everyone deserves to eat good food.
