Guided Birding at Hulls Gulch

Join Golden Eagle Audubon on a guided birding trip in the Boise foothills. Registration is required to attend this event, as space is limited. Individuals on the waitlist will be contacted with instructions if a spot becomes available. Only those who have completed Eventbrite registration and received a confirmation email may attend, including attendees needed for accessibility assistance. Join Golden Eagle Audubon as we explore Hulls Gulch along an unpaved trail loop in the Boise Foothills. This beautiful sagebrush-steppe habitat is home to a variety of birds, including Anna’s Hummingbirds, Downy Woodpeckers, Great-horned Owls, American Kestrels, Coopers Hawks, Red-tailed Hawks, Northern Flickers, Bewick's Wrens and more! Recently reported species can be seen here: https://ebird.org/hotspot/L1094447 Birding Skill Level: All levels are welcome! Binoculars will be available to borrow if needed. Age: Participants younger than 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and participants younger than 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the liability release. Time: 8:30am - 10:00am. Check-in is at 8:20am. Please arrive at check-in so we can start on time. Meeting Place: We will meet at the lower parking lot at Hulls Gulch. Parking can be limited so please try to carpool or arrive early. (Click on "Meeting Place" to get directions from your location.) What to Bring: Layers for weather, sun protection, closed-toe shoes, binoculars, water, and snacks as needed. No dogs please. Restroom Availability: Restrooms are not available in the parking lot or along the trail, but are available within a few minutes drive up the road at the Foothills Learning Center. Accessibility: This trip is unpaved, but may be accessible by wheelchair users or for those with mobility disabilities or visual impairments that are comfortable with traveling on un-paved and uneven trails. Birding by ear may be limited due to the trip being outside of breeding season. Field Trip Leaders will help with bird identification and questions, but are not able to provide one-on-one physical aid or navigational assistance (including sighted guiding) on our trips. Participants are always welcome to arrange any assistance they may need in the field! Please ensure that any assistant is registered to attend this event. Special Conditions: Paths may be slippery and/or icy depending on recent weather. Inclement Weather: Depending on recent weather, trails may become muddy and unsuitable for ethical passage.
