Type IL Cement Education & Technical Training

An educational and technical training event on Type IL cement. Join the Idaho Transportation Department and industry professionals for a free, in-person educational program focused on the performance, placement, and finishing of Type IL concrete (PLC). This event invites engineers, concrete producers, contractors, finishers, material suppliers, and industry agencies to discuss how Type IL cement has changed concrete behavior—and what can be done to achieve better results in the Inland Northwest. The program will combine technical presentations from recognized subject-matter experts with live concrete test pours and finishing demonstrations. Attendees will have the opportunity to observe concrete workability, setting characteristics, placement, and finishing while learning about practical approaches to mixture design, durability, curing, and construction. Topics will include: • Type IL cement fundamentals and performance considerations • Mix design and admixture compatibility • Workability, setting time, placement, and finishing • Pavement performance and durability • Live test pours and concrete finishing demonstrations • Practical lessons from producers, contractors, and technical specialists Event details Date: November 3, 2026 Time: 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Location: Idaho Transportation Department 3311 W. State Street Boise, Idaho 83703 The event will be held outdoors in a heated tent. Please dress appropriately for the weather and outdoor conditions. Drinks will be provided.
