Prohibition did not end America’s whiskey trade—it transformed it. Through medicinal whiskey, Meyer Lansky, Samuel Bronfman, and rabbinic debates over law and ritual wine, this class explores the legal, illegal, and morally ambiguous worlds Jews navigated during America’s “dry” years. . . . Rabbi Rachel Gurevitz, Ph.D. is Rabbi at Congregation B’nai Shalom in Westborough, MA. In her spare time she is a Whisk(e)y Maven: a Certified Bourbon Steward and holds Certificates in Scotch Whisky and Canadian Whisky.
