Botanical Storytelling with Oreades Press

Participants will create personal field guides of important plants in their lives in the form of illustrated saddle stitched booklets. Excited to announce our project crossover! Rachel's project space, Airtight Garage, will be hosting a bookmaking workshop from Oreades Press, her long time collaboration with Irene Lee and their first ever workshop in Massachusetts on Saturday, September 19th from 1-3pm. Botanical Storytelling is a workshop that was originally held at the Center for Book Arts in New York last summer. Inspired by sketchbooks and travel guides by artists like Margaret Mee and Dame Barbara Hepworth, Rachel and Irene will help participants create personal field guides of important plants in their lives and memories in the form of illustrated saddle stitched booklets. Come ready to book bind, do a short writing reflection, and to paint, draw, and/ or collage. All materials are already provided, though you are welcome to bring your own. Free tickets are available, or you can pay what you can. We have a suggested donation of $25.
