Animist Folk Festival

A celebration of wild foods, devotional music, and our reciprocal relationship with the land. Animist Folk Festival is a celebration of wild foods, music, and a ceremony to deepen our reciprocal relationship with the land. Rooted in the tradition of gathering and processing the autumn harvest of wild nuts, the festival invites people to learn the skills of harvesting, storing, and honoring the abundance of the forest. We encourage anyone attending to spend some time before the festival gathering at least a handful of wild nuts to process here. In our region some trees/shrubs to look out for are Black walnut, Butternut, Beech nut, Hazelnut, Chestnut (will not be wild), and Shagbark or Shellbark hickory. Alongside hands-on nut processing, foraging, folk music, storytelling, and shared meals; we gather give thanks to the Earth, remember the old ways of knowing, and explore what it means to live in deeper relationship with the more-than-human world. The address will be disclosed to participants upon purchase of a ticket.
