Bird and Nature Walk, North Reservoir, Winchester

Look for birds, trees, and other plants along the west side of the North Reservoir. Difficulty: Moderate/Easy Appropriate for: Beginning and Intermediate Birders Leaders: Tinie Noordzij and Julia Osborne About Tinie and Julia: Tinie and Julia have extensive experience as guides for Winchester Trails, which provides nature walks for Winchester school children. Tinie was trained as a nature guide in the US and the Netherlands, with a special interest in birds. Julia holds a masters in ecology and completed Mass Audubon’s Birder Certificate program. About the Walk: Join us as we explore the trails on the west side of the North Reservoir, looking for resident and winter birds as well as late fall migrants. We may see ducks such as buffleheads and mergansers on the reservoir. We’ll also practice using bark and other clues to identify common trees and shrubs. We’ll meet at the north end of the North Reservoir, next to the tennis courts across from 15 Appalachian Road. Parking is available on the forest side of Hillcrest Parkway, off Highland Avenue, Winchester. This walk is for beginning and intermediate birders. Dress warmly and wear sturdy shoes. Please bring binoculars if you have them. Steady rain, heavy snow, or stormy winds cancel. ** Please be mindful and register if you are absolutely able to attend this walk.
