Talk Title: Biophysical underpinnings of computation and learning in the neocortex Abstract: I will discuss my lab’s recent work on understanding the interacting roles of synaptic organization, nonlinear dendritic processing, and neuronal activity patterns in the mammalian neocortex as they pertain to computational power, flexibility, and learning in the adult mammalian neocortex.

Bio: Mark joined the faculty at MIT in 2015 and was tenured in 2023. He became Graduate Officer in 2021. He received his B.A. in Biology from Reed College in Portland, Oregon and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to joining MIT, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Janelia Research Campus in Ashburn VA. Followed by a reception with food and drink in 3rd floor atrium
