From Brooklyn to the North Pole: An Illustrated Journey with Photographer Leonard Sussman

Experience the polar regions through the lens of photographer Leonard Sussman. What does it take to create a photograph at the edge of the world? Join photographer Leonard Sussman for an illustrated talk exploring the extraordinary landscapes and experiences of the polar and sub-polar regions. From the Arctic to Antarctica and everywhere in between, his work captures some of Earth's most remote locations. Since 2014, Sussman has embarked on over a dozen expeditions to some of Earth's most remote and breathtaking locations: the Svalbard archipelago, Alaska, Greenland, Patagonia, Antarctica, and the sub-Antarctic islands of New Zealand and Australia. His camera has captured these fragile, stunning environments in ways that challenge and inspire. Sussman will share stunning imagery from his polar expeditions, reveal the challenges of photographing in extreme environments, and discuss his book, From Brooklyn to the North Pole: 52 Days on the USCG Icebreaker Healy.
