"The Weavers," is a new extended reality (XR) action-film-inspired performance based on Gerhart Hauptmann's 1912 Nobel Prize-winning play, centering a community of textile workers and their bosses whose understanding of labour, sense of faith, and humanity, is pressed to the brink by the unstoppable march of mechanization, automation, and the free-fall-collapse of empathy. #willAItakemyjob With performances by: Parker Jennings, Cristhian Mancinas, Hui Ying Wen, Mitra Sharif, Sally Rose Zuckert, Brad Burgess, and Hugo Zasloff Nelson Joseph Lark-Riley, stage design; Peter Torpey with Anna Borou Yu, video and interactive design; Yanyi Liu, camera; Jonathan Fajors clothes; Christian Frederickson, sound design; Xinyu Xu lighting design; Maggie Moore, Director of Production; Zisan Ugurlu, dramaturgy; Jay Scheib, director Supported by the MIT Center for Art, Science & Technology All performances will take place in Building W97 at MIT 345 Vassar Street in Cambridge, MA
