Third Thursday: Leadership & Legacy

This Thursday returns with the story behind one of our most iconic artifacts—First Lady Betty Ford’s exclusive Frankie Welch scarf! Custom-made by celebrated American designer Frankie Welch, the scarf reflects a decades-long friendship through thoughtful details, including Betty Ford's favorite flowers, colors, and even her signature. You’ll discover what this unique piece reveals about Betty Ford’s life before the White House and how she navigated diplomacy, public service, and the ever-evolving role of First Lady with a personal touch. Enjoy complimentary wine and cheese with time to connect and converse with fellow history lovers before we explore how Frankie Welch’s designer scarves are woven into the fabric of American history. Along the way, you’ll get the chance to appreciate these beautiful accessories up close with an exclusive display featuring authentic 1970s Frankie Welch scarves from our collection—including the Betty Ford design!
