The 3rd annual RATB features post punk trio OMNI (Sub Pop, Danger Collective) and Chattanooga's own Behold the Brave, Days Now, & Alva Leigh Yellow Racket is pleased to announce the 3rd annual Racket at the Boneyard, a mini-music-festival at America's coolest bar/venue/pinball arcade specially curated by one of Chattanooga's most beloved indie record stores! This year's lineup includes: • Alva Leigh (8:00pm) • Behold the Brave (9:00pm) • OMNI (10:00pm) • Days Now (11:00pm) DOORS: 7:00pm MUSIC: 8:00pm AGES: 21+ TICKETS: $18 advance, $25 day of show ABOUT THE ARTISTS OMNI Ten years on, Omni’s ‘Deluxe’ is a bit of a paradox; It’s an island of a record with a fully formed untethered-to-any-scene unique quality but I hear its influence everywhere in the art punk underground. There are countless bands that have mined inspiration from the LP’s cerebral pop cool, single string riffs, syncopated hooks, and crispy mid-fi production style. Perhaps when Philip and Frankie cheekily named the album ‘Deluxe’, they knew they had a classic on their hands. The band was poking fun of the streaming era marketing tactic where artists re-enter the algorithm via a ‘deluxe’ expanded version of an album right after the original is released. Ironically, ten years later Omni’s debut is a genuine classic and is being re-released with a bonus disc of B-sides, outtakes, and demos. Omni began as a way for Philip Frobos and Frankie Broyles to practice creative spontaneity in contrast to the slower meticulous methods their then other bands employed. The economic songwriting betrays a true sense of virtuosity; The power duo explodes with melodic lines and clever counterpoint that is far removed from the atonal motorik stomp of many of Omni’s peers in the current art rock underground. Frankie is truly one of his generation’s most unique and creative guitar players; he always sounds like himself even when assimilating disparate influences. BEHOLD THE BRAVE A Tennessee rock combo with a heavy soulful sound, Chattanooga’s Behold the Brave is Clayton Davis (vocals, guitar), Zack Randolph (guitar), Jeremiah Thompson (drums), and Michael Walker (bass). Behold The Brave has toured nationally, with song placement on Showtime’s ‘Shameless’, a performance on Chicago’s ‘Audiotree’ and lead singer Clayton Davis’s appearance on NBC’s The Voice. Whenever they take the stage, the house is always packed. DAYS NOW Chase Waller began releasing music as El Rocko in 2019. As his songwriting and composition pushed him into new territory, Waller’s project grew to include four other gifted musicians. The quintet began to push beyond the boundaries of El Rocko’s intimate world, until the collective launched it’s own project, Days Now, named after one of El Rocko’s early songs. After almost five years of writing, composing, recording and mixing, Days Now will release their debut LP in early 2027. ALVA LEIGH Mothers are expected to transition into their new role with ease and poise, but in reality, it is pretty messy. Singer-songwriter Alva Leigh became a mother in 2017 just three weeks after a career milestone performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London with her band, Lewis & Leigh. Her band released their debut album Ghost to critical acclaim and wrapped a UK/Europe tour. But, once she was thrust across the threshold of motherhood, the paradoxes began. Love and fear, loneliness and expectation, Loss and hope, grief and magic. Alva processed the only way she knew how – songwriting. Alva left London during the pandemic with a newborn and toddler, returning to Tennessee to make a new home. Somewhere in between nap time and the nursing chair, she kept writing songs as a sort of reverse magic trick - how not to disappear into caretaking. These songs became her new album, Wilderness: playful and dreamy pop music with vulnerable and piercing lyrics. Turns out there was hope and catharsis in the making.
