CLE - Tech Law Boot Camp 2026: AI in Patent Searching

CIPLIT’s Tech Law Boot Camp is an annual series of lunchtime lectures about relevant substantive technology topics. These lectures are open to DePaul law students, alumni and the Chicago legal community. 2026's Tech Law Boot Camp will focus on the use of AI in Industries. All events will run from 12:00-1:00 pm in person and over Zoom (RSVP for the link). "AI in Patent Searching" with Ron Kaminecki (Kaminecki IP, LLC) will be held on October 22, 2026, from 12-1 pm in Lewis 803. 1 hour CLE will be provided for all requesting attendees. Lunch will be provided for in person attendees. This event is free to attend. RSVP to [email protected] with how you plan to attend and your ARDC #, if applicable. ---- Description: A look at how Artificial Intelligence can assist with patent searching. --- Bio: Ron Kaminecki has been searching patents for over forty years, specializing in patent information at Lockheed Missiles and Space, Dialog, Thomson-Reuters, Knight-Ridder Information, ProQuest and Questel. He has a BS in Chemistry, an MS in Computer Science and a JD with a Certificate in Patent Law and is a Qualified Patent Information Professional and is also a patent attorney. Currently, he consults and has taught intellectual property searching as an adjunct at DePaul Law, Notre Dame Law and the University of New Hampshire Law schools, is an inventor, a co-author of a NISO standard for a common command search language, an expert witness, and Chair of the Supervisory Council of the ISBQPIP (patent searcher certification) and Vice-Chair of the Patent Information User Group. --- Full Schedule All events run from 12-1 pm in Lewis 803 or online.
