Grad Student Book Talk with KB Dennis Meade

Join us for lunch and a book talk with KB Dennis Meade. Dr. Dennis Meade is scholar of Africana Religions and Caribbean Studies, with research covering the study of the modern African diaspora, religious cultures and politics in the Caribbean, ethnographic methods, and the digital humanities. Her current book manuscript, Refuge and Deliverance: Religion, Faith, and Politics in Modern Jamaica, explores the role of religion in the history of social change in Jamaica from the late 19th century to the present. Ethnographic fieldwork centers the experiences of those living within an inner-city community in Kingston, revealing the salience of religion in shaping national politics and everyday life. Along with her research, Dr. Dennis Meade will also discuss the process of developing the book from her dissertation research. Please note that 720 University Place is not an ADA-accessible space.
