Rushed to Palos Hospital, he seized again while waiting for testing — he was intubated, and emergency scans revealed two brain lesions, a brain bleed, and dangerously high blood pressure. He was immediately transferred to Northwestern Memorial's Neurology ICU, where the fight for his life began. Doctors ruled out infection — the masses had originated in his brain. Despite everything, Jason kept fighting. He came off the ventilator, regained consciousness, could follow commands, and even joked about wanting to go home. Surgery was originally scheduled for July 15, but after his speech suddenly worsened and scans showed significant brain swelling, it was moved up to July 7. Surgeons safely removed roughly 75% of the tumor — removing more would have risked permanent damage to speech and movement. Jason woke up unable to move the right side of his body or speak. Since surgery, Jason has shown incredible determination — awake, alert, eating well, and making progress through intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Doctors have already seen movement return in his right foot and gradual improvement in his speech. The pathology results confirmed methylated glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. The methylated status does give doctors more treatment options and more hope for a response to therapy. Jason's treatment plan now includes radiation and chemotherapy with temozolomide, and his oncology team is evaluating him for a promising clinical trial. At 42, no one expects to lose their livelihood. Jason keeps asking "when can I go back to work?" We don't know the answer — but we can work for him, by supporting his family. All proceeds from this event go straight to Jason's medical bills and his family's basic needs. Thank you for standing beside Jason, Kristin, Ellie, and JJ during the hardest chapter of their lives. Your presence, prayers, and support remind them they're not facing this alone. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ CAN'T MAKE IT?
