Hand Painting with Natural Dye Pastes

Create natural dye pastes and use them to paint fabric. Dates: Sat Oct 24 - Sun Oct 25, 10am - 1pm each day. Sales end: Oct 17, 5pm. Ticket: $70 + Eventbrite fee. Instructor: Gina Truhart. Materials fee: $35. Skills Needed: beginner to advanced. Class Limit: 6. Class Location: 2nd floor dye kitchen. Minimum Age: Adult Take your interests in natural dye to a whole new level with this natural dye painting workshop. In this two-day workshop participants will learn how to make thickened dye pastes and the processes it takes to successfully apply natural dye to cotton and silk. The workshop will also explore a variety of painting, stenciling and block printing techniques which are perfect for both the beginner and experienced artists. Gina Truhart, UC/CCM Professor of Costume Technology has taught both undergraduate and graduate level courses such as historical pattern making, tailoring, millinery, and fabric painting and dying for theater for over 20 years. If you are not feeling well, please contact the instructor instead of coming to the class. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded. Depending on the CDC Guidelines for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class. Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above. On a case-by-case basis, a minor may be permitted to register for a class but must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
