Jesus sent ordinary people to preach the kingdom and demonstrate it. Equipping churches to pursue Word and Spirit without diminishing either When Jesus sent his followers out, he did not send specialists. He sent ordinary people, to announce that the kingdom of God had come near — and to demonstrate that it had. The preaching and the demonstration were never two separate things. They were one message delivered in two ways. Spirit Empowered Mission is a two-day equipping conference for pastors, ministry leaders, and everyday believers across Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky. It is for anyone who wants to hold the authority of Scripture and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit together — without diminishing either one. We are partnering with multiple Churches from Dayton, Cincinnati and NKY to host this event. Who this is for If you are new to any of this — if you have wondered whether God still speaks, still heals, still moves, and you have never had anywhere safe to ask — this conference is built with you in mind. You will not be put on the spot. You will be taught, and you will be given room to think. If you have been practicing for years — if you pray for the sick, if you have learned to listen, if you carry both the joy and the scar tissue that comes with this — there is something here for you too. Some of the most important questions in this life are the ones practitioners rarely get to ask out loud. How do I discern? What do I do when nothing happens? How do I stay honest about failure? How does a church govern this well? If you are cautious — if you love the Word, take doctrine seriously, and have watched enough of what passes for Spirit-filled ministry to be wary of the whole subject — you are genuinely welcome. You will not be pressured, and nothing will be asked of you that you have not decided to do. Come and listen. What we're after Our aim is not to sensationalize or to perform. It is to teach, to ground, and to encourage the church in a faithful and normative pursuit of everything God has made available to his people. We envision a church in this region where believers are empowered and the gifts of the Spirit are neither chased after as spectacle nor dismissed out of hand, but received and practiced with reverence, theological care, and genuine faith. We believe that kind of formation displaces excess not by argument alone, but by the presence of something truer. We also hope for something between churches, and not only within them. Our prayer is that congregations across this region would be unified and equipped, serving and building one another as the Spirit gives good gifts and matures us in the practice of them. And we hope this weekend opens doors for church leaders to meet, collaborate, and help one another steward and grow this ministry in their own contexts — so that the reach of the gospel extends further than any one church could carry it alone. Our featured speaker Pastor Michael Miller hosts the Remnant Radio podcast and pastors Reclamation Church as part of the Convergence Church Network. He is a widely recognized voice in Evangelical and Reformed-continuationist circles, known for articulate, gracious, and scripturally faithful engagement with the theology of the gifts. He has also been an outspoken and principled critic of the New Apostolic Reformation, the prosperity gospel, and Word of Faith theology — movements that have caused significant confusion and harm within the charismatic space. He brings both theological depth and credibility to this gathering, and he is exactly the kind of teacher this conversation needs.
