Join us at Western Reserve Distillers for Couples & Bourbon — a relaxed, guided tasting created for couples who want to sip something great, learn something new, and enjoy an evening together. You don’t need to know bourbon. You just need to be curious. We’ll taste through four distinctly different Western Reserve bourbons while exploring what gives each whiskey its character — from grain and mash bill to barrel aging, proof and time. You’ll learn how to taste bourbon, what to look for in the glass, and how seemingly small changes can create remarkably different whiskeys. From Kentucky to Lakewood Kentucky has earned its place at the center of American bourbon, and some of the distilleries we admire most are there — including Willett Distillery. That’s why one visit to Western Reserve has always meant a lot to us. A guest shared that his wife’s family owns Willett Bourbon Distillery. For years, he said, she insisted bourbon wasn’t really bourbon unless it came from Kentucky. Then she tried Western Reserve. As he put it, “She changed her mind after I bought a bottle of the Western Reserve Distillers.” For a small Ohio distillery making whiskey here in Lakewood, that was pretty special. We’re not trying to be Kentucky. We’re proud to be Ohio. But when someone with that kind of connection to Kentucky bourbon recognizes the quality of what we’re creating here, it reinforces something we believe deeply: World-class bourbon doesn’t have to stop at the Kentucky state line.
