In this fun, beginner-friendly 2-hour class, we’ll go over the basics of sugar cookies—from dough to icing—so you can create beautifully decorated treats with confidence. You'll get hands-on piping practice with royal icing, learn strategic decorating techniques, and discover tips for making the perfect cookies every time. Everything you need is provided, including step-by-step instruction in a welcoming, in-person setting. Just bring a smile (and maybe an apron)! By the end of class, you'll walk away with a solid foundation in sugar cookie decorating and a few cool new techniques to try at home. About this Class This class is perfect for beginner cookiers or anyone curious about the world of cookie decorating! If you’re new to sugar cookies, have struggled with royal icing, or just want a fun and creative activity with friends or family, this class is for you! We’ll decorate a Thanksgiving themed set — Class set and photos coming soon... We provide everything you need—cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your adorable creations home. Each participant gets 6 cookies, 4 icing colors, sprinkles, and all the necessary tools to knock this cookie class out of the park! No baking or icing prep needed—just decorate and enjoy! This class is on Sunday, November 22nd and starts at 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM sharp, giving us plenty of time to decorate and answer any questions along the way. Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or make it a family event—we have seating for up to 25 people! This class is designed for ages 16 and up, but younger kids are welcome with a ticketed adult. If you’d rather decorate at home, grab an add-on kit! It comes with everything you need, plus we’ll send you the class PowerPoint so you can teach your little ones (or just enjoy decorating again yourself!). The class will be held at The Family Room Coffee and Bake Shop in Westerville, Ohio, located at 545 S Otterbein Ave. Parking? No problem! There are plenty of spaces available right in front of the building. FAQ What will I be doing in the class? Besides having the most fun ever? We will be going over some cookie facts, decorating techniques and you will be decorating your very own set of cookies that you will take home with you that day. Can I purchase an additional take-home kit? Yes! Many parents or practicing cookiers purchase additional class kits to take home and re-do the classes. You can purchase an add-on kit during check-out. Your kit will be available at the end of your class - so don't forget it! If you’re skipping class and just ordering the kit – swing by anytime during class to sneak in and pick it up – it’ll be labeled with your name! Do I need to know how to bake? Nope! No baking experience required. We will have the cookies pre-made for you along with the icing already mixed and colored. Have a little decorating experience under your belt… er… apron? Come on too! I can help with questions on icing mixing and dough spread! What will we learn in class? You’ll learn what goes into preparing royal icing, the value of different icing consistencies – we’ll touch on tips and tricks to make your cookies look even better than they taste (and they taste good)! You’ll also learn different decorating techniques depending on the class theme such as marbling, outlining, wet-on-wet, brush embroidery, and painting. Or hey – go off script and make your own designs – it’s your class! What do I need to bring? Nothing but a smile! Everything will be provided for you including my (rather tasty) sugar cookies. All you need to do is join us and have fun! Messy decorator? You can bring your own apron or just wear easy-to-wash clothing. There is a PowerPoint for reference, so if you wear glasses, we'd encourage you to bring them as well. Oh – and bring your phone – I love photos! What age is best for cookie classes? Our classes are for almost any age! From youngsters to grandparents - come on in and have some cookie fun with us! Our in-person classes are great for any age; however, kiddos under 16 will need a parent taking the class as well. If you think your child may be too young to enjoy the in-person class, purchase an additional take-home kit! We'll send you the class PowerPoint, and you can teach your kids in the comfort of your own home. Can just my child take the class? We ask that all parents also attend the classes with their children under age 16. For children over 16, you can drop off your child to take the class and return to pick-up in 2 hours. Due to space restrictions, we do not have room for parents to stand by and watch their children in class. So unfortunately, your adorable kiddo cannot take the class alone. A parent must also purchase a ticket and take the class as well - but I promise you this - it's super fun for all involved! What will I bring home? By the end of the class, you will have created a set of gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24 - 48 hours in their own box. I’ll send you an Amazon link with a list of the tools we used in class so that you can recreate these cookies at home. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun! Can I sign up as an individual or as a group? You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. The more the merrier! We are limited to a total of 25 seats per class, so definitely sign up ASAP! Where are the classes located? The class will be held at the The Family Room Coffee and Bake Shop in Westerville, Ohio located at 545 S Otterbein Ave. Signed up for a class but can't make it? :( We understand that life happens so that’s why we allow you to cancel up to 2 days before the class. You can always transfer your spot to a friend though (and what a nice friend you are). Any cancelation after the 2 days will roll you into the next upcoming class. Please read below for our COVID-19 Cancelation Policies. Things to Bring Wondering what you need to bring for a fun and successful cookie decorating class? Nothing is required, but here are a few things that can enhance your experience: • An apron! Royal icing can get a little messy, so bring an apron to keep things clean. Bonus points if it’s cute—I’ll definitely be asking where you got it! • Your glasses! We’ll have a reference slide deck to guide you, so if you need glasses for up-close details, bring them along. • Your phone! I love when students snap photos throughout class—capture your progress and your beautifully decorated cookies! 📸🍪 • A great attitude! Cookie decorating is fun but can also be a little tricky. Patience and a positive mindset make all the difference! About Your Brooke Bakes Cookies and Cakes Who doesn’t love getting out and doing something fun while also eating delicious cookies!? That’s what Brooke Bakes is all about! These classes are based in Westerville, Ohio and cater to the beginner cookier or people just looking to have fun learning a new skill. Whether you just want a fun date, a girls-or-guys-night-out or just want to explore what cookie decorating is on your own - we have a seat for you. For our classes, all you will need to bring is yourself (and an apron if you are a messy decorator), and I’ll take care of the rest. Oh – and bring eyeglasses so you can see the instructional PowerPoint if your eyesight is anything like mine. You will get a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty if I do say so myself) as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate them during the 2 hour class.
