THE HAUNTED HISTORY OF POASTTOWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Poasttown Elementary School opened in 1937 and served the surrounding community for more than sixty years before closing in 2000. For generations, the building was a place of learning, discipline, and comfort for the students and educators who spent their days here. Why Poasttown is haunted remains unknown. What many investigators believe, however, is that spirits often return to places where they felt happiest, safest, or most connected. For many children and teachers, Poasttown may have been exactly that. ​But the history surrounding the property extends beyond the school itself. Behind the building lies land marked by tragedy. Two separate train accidents occurred nearby, both resulting in fatalities.
