OPEN DECKS: Boulder's Free All-Ages DJ Night

Boulder's first open decks night. Names from a hat, 20 minutes on CDJ-3000s, any genre. Free, all ages, at Roots Music Project. BOULDER DOESN'T HAVE ONE OF THESE. NOW IT DOES. Open Decks is a free, all-ages DJ night at Roots Music Project. We put every DJ's name in a hat, draw them one at a time, and each one gets 20 minutes on club-standard gear in a real venue with a real sound system. No audition. No booking politics. No cover. Just your name in a hat and a room that wants to hear what you've got. - Sign up at the door from 6:30 PM. Write your name, drop it in the hat. - We pull a name every 20 minutes, all night. Everyone who signs up gets a shot. - 20 minutes each. - Play absolutely any Genre. - Industry-standard gear: Three Pioneer CDJ-3000xs and a DJM-A9 mixer, through the venue PA. - Bring a Rekordbox-formatted USB drive. That's it. Whether you've played 200 shows or you've never played outside your bedroom, this is the same hat. This is the night for you if you want to: — Get real time on CDJ-3000xs instead of learning them the hard way at your first paid gig — Test new tricks, transitions, or an unfinished edit in front of an actual crowd — Hear your production on a proper system instead of your headphones — Meet other DJs in Boulder who are doing the same thing — Find out what your set actually feels like when there are people in the room Sign-ups stay open all night, so you can walk in at 9 and still get in the hat. But every draw you miss is a draw you weren't in — get there early. Good to Know: ALL AGES. Everyone welcome, no exceptions. If you're 21+ with a valid ID, the bar is open — beers, cocktails, and a full non-alcoholic menu so nobody's standing around empty-handed. FREE ENTRY. No cover.
