Works in Translation - October Book Club

Join us on Wednesday October 14th at 7pm for Works in Translation with Candela. Hosted by Candela, this new book club invites readers to travel the world through books, exploring stories by authors from across the globe and the translators who bring their words to new audiences. We’ll read works in translation that challenge us, surprise us, and offer new ways of seeing the world. You don’t need to know anything about translation (or have read widely outside the English-language canon) to join—just bring your curiosity and a love of good books. Everyone is welcome. Candela's pick for this month is Tentacle by Rita Indiana. Indiana blends sci-fi, queer politics, Caribbean spirituality, and colonial history into one gloriously strange ride. Pick up a copy in store, head to Libro.fm if you prefer an audiobook experience, or visit our friends at the Ferndale Area District Library to check out a copy for the month. Your $10 ticket fee holds a seat for you, and can be applied toward an in-store purchase (valid on book club day only).
