Hiking in the City (DTE)

A moderate-vigorous hike with uneven terrain (bring hiking boots or shoes with serious grip!) Several fields + opportunities for sports and games. Side Quests — Exploration and rock-scrambling. Hudson River, New Jersey Palisades and Upper Manhattan views A day of making friends and building community right in nature's backyard. Same drill as always for the members — we're meeting up at 42nd Street PABT uptown ACE platform @ 8 AM then heading up to Dyckman Street. WHEN ⏰Saturday, September 26 @ 9am (travelers will meet @ 8am) WHERE 📍Inwood Hill Park, Upper Manhattan (travelers will meet @ 42nd Street PABT) MEET 🚌Meet us at 42nd Street PABT, uptown A/C/E platform, by 8:00 AM. We'll board the uptown A train together and head to Dyckman Street. Driving or meeting us at the trail? Join us at the Dyckman Street A station or right down the street at the Inwood Hill Park/Dyckman Street trailhead. RUN OF SHOW 🌲8:00 AM. Meet the group at 42nd Street PABT before boarding the train together.8:15 AM. Depart uptown on the A train toward Dyckman Street.8:50 AM. Arrive at Dyckman Street and walk together to the trailhead.9:00 AM. Group up at Inwood Hill Park/Dyckman Street trailhead. Quick stretch and briefing before we head in.9:15 AM. Begin our guided hike through 153 acres of Inwood Hill Park's natural forest. Expect a moderate-to-vigorous pace over uneven terrain, with side quests along the way. Prepare for rock-scrambling, exploration, and standout views of the Hudson River, the New Jersey Palisades, and Upper Manhattan.~11:15 AM. Hit the blue trail's open fields for games and field day activities. Bring your own sports gear if you've got a favorite. Everyone's welcome to join in.~12:30 PM. Head down to the Hudson River side for lunch on the water. Pack your own lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. This part's optional. You're free to head out anytime after the hike, but we'd love to have you stick around. A NOTE ON MOVING WITH GRACE 🍃We'll be a big group in a small, quiet park, so let's be intentional about it. Single file on the trail, keep the noise down for other hikers and wildlife, and Leave No Trace. Pack out everything you bring in. This is someone else's peaceful morning too.
