Body & Mind Birth Preparation A whole-person workshop for the birth you are preparing for, and the one that actually unfolds Here is what most birth preparation classes do not tell you: No birth goes exactly according to plan. And the women who tend to navigate it with the most steadiness are not the ones with the most detailed birth plan, they are the ones who prepared their bodies, their minds, and their support systems for whatever the experience might bring. That is exactly what this workshop is designed to do. Brought to you by Dr. Alyssa Banks of Alchemy Pelvic Health and Dr. Vanessa Vitiello, this is a collaborative, intimate gathering for expecting women weaving together pelvic floor physical therapy and perinatal mental health into one grounded, practical, deeply human evening. What you will leave with: • A real understanding of how to physically prepare your pelvis and perineum for birth, including movement sequences, positioning practice, and perineal massage guidance • Knowledge of the fear-tension-pain cycle and how to interrupt it in the birth room • Clarity on what is normal in the pregnant and postpartum body, and when to seek support • A toolkit of coping strategies for labor, breath work, grounding, mindfulness, mantras, and more • The language and confidence to advocate for yourself and communicate your needs during birth • Guidance for your partner or support person on how to truly show up, recognizing distress, offering reassurance, and helping you find your footing when things feel uncertain • An honest, compassionate introduction to postpartum emotional health, including what to watch for, what is normal, and why having a mental health support plan is just as important as a birth plan • Handouts and resources for continued support What this workshop is not: It is not a space to frighten you. It is not a rigid curriculum that assumes every birth looks the same. And it is not another thing on your to-do list that leaves you feeling more overwhelmed than prepared. It is a room full of women preparing for one of the most significant experiences of their lives, held by two practitioners who have walked alongside hundreds of women through exactly this, and it is designed to leave you feeling steadier, more informed, and a little less alone in all of it.
