Get the community together for a run/walk to raise money for the Jon Callaghan Memorial Fund and Gurnee Community Church Youth Work Camp. Come join us for the...Jon Callaghan Memorial Turkey Trot 32nd ANNUAL 5K fun run & walk. One of the goals in the run/walk is to encourage the community to come together and get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere. The second goal is to help raise money which will be divided between two separate funds: *Jon Callaghan Memorial Fund *Gurnee Community Church Youth Work Camp Jon Callaghan was a student at O’Plaine School in Gurnee, who passed away in 1997 after a courageous battle with neuroblastoma cancer. Per the Callaghan family, the funds raised have been used to help Comer Children’s Memorial Hospital Cancer Research, School District 56 Program for Learning Disabled, and many others. Each year the Gurnee Community Church Youth Mission Trip participants raise funds for international and domestic trips including the Many Hands Project (MHP). The MHP serves underprivileged Lake County homeowners by doing home repairs and yard work and building wheel chair ramps and beds. Any donations would be appreciated and sponsorship is welcome. Participation in the walk/run is encouraged. Please make checks payable to the Gurnee Turkey Trot and mail to Gurnee Turkey Trot, 325 North O’Plaine Road, Gurnee, Illinois 60031. If you have any questions, please contact Deputy Chief Jason Kalinowski ([email protected]) 847.599.7050 at the Gurnee Police Department.
