Former Ruins in Fort Wayne-area Nov 12 at Woodburn Missionary Church

Weaving singer-songwriter disclosure with devotional indie rock catharsis, Former Ruins returns as a trio to Woodburn Missionary Church. Marking the release of the new single 'Record Breaking,' Levi Sikes brings Former Ruins back to Woodburn Missionary Church as an electric trio on Thursday, November 12th. “In Your Field” is an authentically unique and devout outing, revealing a band that reflects an age well beyond their years. Their sound is rooted firmly in the music of decades past, and their wisdom in a commitment to dying to self and pursuing Christ. —Zach, ebenezermusic.substack.com "Enchanting. It’s a word that sums up only a few truly moving albums; ones that shine lyrically, consist of artisan songcraft, and thrive off a powerful emotional response. I won’t mince words—Former Ruins offers all of this and more. These songs are full, emotive, and daringly forward in their lyrical content." —Casey Gallenberger, indievisionmusic.com As a lifelong Christian, Levi presents a vision of faith that one listener has quipped "sounds like Nick Cave and Flannery O'Connor having a conversation in the kitchen." Nostalgic callbacks, literary references, and knotty—yet tender—examinations of belief characterize his niche position in the scene and cross-genre appeal. Opening most recently for Andy Squyres in July 2026, Levi is honing a DIY sound that draws ready comparisons to Squyres himself, John Mark McMillan, and The National. With fresh influence from both mid-00s guitar rock and the current wave of Americana dubbed—somewhat cheekily—as indie twang, Former Ruins is poised to expand their sonic palette in 2027 with Levi's emotionally elastic voice finding new modes of expression. Songs place listeners in settings both domestic and cosmic, honing in on the intricacies of memory and bearing the lived-in texture of faith's many difficulties. Never content to leave us in a grey-space of uncertainty, a Former Ruins set expounds with disarming and colorful sincerity on the power of God, the grace of the present moment, and the durability of both the vows we keep and the vows that keep us.
