Practice the process from beginning to end The workshop follows guided case examples involving children and adults through assessment planning, interpretation, reporting, and feedback. A wide variety of testing instruments will be reviewed and discussed, with an emphasis on selecting appropriate tools and implementing them in counseling practice. Participants will consider what information is needed, how to integrate findings and explain uncertainty, and when consultation or referral is appropriate. What you will practice • Translate a referral concern into focused questions and an information-gathering plan. • Review a wide variety of testing instruments and consider their implementation in child and adult assessment, including purpose, population, limitations, and training requirements. • Integrate interviews, history, observations, and test findings; identify gaps or conflicting information. • Build a report outline that connects findings with clear, practical recommendations. • Plan a feedback conversation and map the next steps for assessment services in your practice. Who should attend Counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and other mental health professionals seeking an introductory-to-intermediate assessment workflow. Associates and trainees should participate within their supervision arrangements. Attendance does not itself qualify a participant to administer a particular instrument or practice outside their professional scope. Your workshop experience • Two days of instruction and facilitated case discussion in a group of seven. • Guided child and adult case exercises connecting assessment planning, interpretation, report writing, and feedback. • Time to develop an implementation plan covering workflow, documentation, service costs, and referral relationships. Included materials: Your registration includes an assessment-planning worksheet, a tool-selection checklist, a report outline, two case exercises, and a practice implementation worksheet. Proprietary test kits, scoring licenses, instrument certification, and follow-up consultation are not included. How the two days fit together Day 1: Define the referral question, gather useful information, compare testing instruments, and build assessment plans through child and adult case examples. Day 2: Integrate findings, organize a report, rehearse feedback, and develop a practical implementation plan. See the Agenda section for session times.
