The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on 16mm

Experience the raw, unpolished horror of 1974 the way it was meant to be seen: scratched, grain-bleached, and bleeding on 16mm. Step back into the brutal, sun-drenched nightmare that redefined horror history—projected as it was originally shot, on tactile, unforgiving 16mm film. In 1974, director Tobe Hooper took a ragtag crew, a micro-budget, and low-grade 16mm Ektachrome stock into the sweltering Texas heat to unleash The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. What they captured was pure, unrelenting terror: five young travelers whose innocent road trip plunges into an inescapable nightmare after stumbling upon a twisted, cannibalistic family led by the iconic, leather-masked killer, Leatherface. Experiencing this masterpiece on 16mm film restores the movie to its authentic, grindhouse roots. The heavy film grain, high-contrast shadows, dynamic color shifts, and whir of the analog projector create a visceral, documentary-like atmosphere that modern digital remasters simply cannot replicate. It feels less like watching a movie and more like unearthing lost, forbidden footage. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable cinematic assault—brutal, beautiful, and utterly unhinged. 📅 Date: October 26th, 2026 🕡 Time: 7:00 PM CST 📍 Location: Stage West Theatre 🎟️ Tickets: $10 (no one will be turned away...pay what you can options available)
