Level Five Improv: Show Formats in Long Form Improv

Find the Fun and Face the Challenge in Each Performance Format! After spending four levels creating engaging scenes with compelling characters, it’s time to put it all together in a show…and there are so many different forms that a show can take! In this seven week class, students will learn a variety of different long formats, from the fast play of Slacker, to the slow play of the Monoscene, from character-driven pieces like the La Ronde and Closer Quarters to opening inspired pieces like the Livingroom and Dinner Party, focusing on what makes each format unique, fun, and challenging! Students will learn to use devices that help the ensemble support scenes and create the show as a whole, bring back characters and ideas, and broaden their long form vocabulary! This class will culminate with students choosing one or more formats for their showcase. The prerequisite for this class is Level Four Improv at Stomping Ground Comedy Theater.
