Armenian Film Festival - A Taste of Golden Apricot Join Armenian Film Society on Saturday, September 19 at 2pm for A Taste of Golden Apricot, a curated program of award-winning films from this year’s Golden Apricot International Film Festival in Yerevan. The program brings these films from Yerevan to Glendale, connecting audiences across Armenia and the diaspora while deepening the growing relationship between the two film festivals. In July 2026, Armenian Film Society and the Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival announced a new year-round partnership supporting Armenian cinema and filmmakers through collaborative programming and cultural exchange. The partnership launched in Yerevan, Armenia and continues in Glendale, California, with a special program presented at this year’s Armenian Film Festival. Dialogues Solitaires (France/Armenia, 25 minutes) Director: Serouj Hovsepian Torn between confessing his love to Van and the fear of ruining their friendship, Aren drifts through the Parisian night. An encounter with Théo, a former lover, rekindles buried emotions and compels him to redefine the true meaning of love. Paid Mourners (Armenia, 35 minutes) Director: Ovsanna Gevorgyan Paid Mourners follows a family of professional mourners, where the unique trade is passed down through the women of the household. 16-year-old Margo, however, has other plans. A rising TikTok star, she has no interest in continuing this decidedly unglamorous tradition. Her resolve is put to the test when her grandmother, Bavo, announces she has only one week to live. With Margo’s mother absent, the responsibility of inheriting the family legacy falls squarely on her shoulders. Determined to pass on the mantle, Bavo has only seven days to help Margo prepare her for the role she was born to take. Relic (Armenia, 23 minutes) Director: Sona Khachatryan Minas, a 10-year-old blind boy, with magical abilities to heal, struggles with his father's inability to accept him due to his disability. His only source of comfort is his grandmother, who works tirelessly to restore his sight and guide him through her love. After her death the village priest takes Minas in, but the villagers, fearing him and blaming him for past tragedies, turn against him. Minas secretly heals a sick girl, but the priest dies the next day. At the priest’s funeral, the villagers argue about repurposing the church for personal gain, further highlighting their moral decay. Minas abandons the village leaving behind a fog. Together Alone (Armenia, 11 minutes) Director: Arthur Sahakyan Together Alone portrays the life of Shura and Ofelya, an elderly couple who lived together in isolation for nearly fifty years in a small house detached from the outside world. The film begins after Ofelya’s death and gradually moves backward through time, where memory, silence, and space merge into a single emotional reality. Time unfolds in a circular and sometimes frozen way. The house itself becomes a living archive of memory, carrying traces of absence and existence through its silent objects, worn walls, and empty rooms.Through static imagery and the blending of past footage with Shura’s present-day life, the film explores loneliness, memory, and the invisible continuation of shared existence.
