Armenian Film Festival - Shorts I: Around the World Join Armenian Film Society on Sunday, September 20 at 11am for Shorts I: Around the World, a curated selection of powerful short films from across the globe, showcasing diverse voices and stories that transcend borders. Every Lost Breath (Scotland, 13 minutes) Director: Alex Sarkisian In a world where oxygen is vanishing, a lone sound recordist searches for a rare, ephemeral sound to complete humanity's final audio archive. During their search they encounter a stranger. Together they traverse a desolate landscape, capturing Earth's final sounds while sharing fleeting connection. As the recordist realises the recordings may never be transmitted, they surrender to the present's fragile immediacy. every lost breath is an immersive meditation on existence and the beauty of sound in a dying world - culminating in a final, consuming auditory experience before the end. Morning Circle (Germany, 21 minutes) Director: Basma al-Sharif A short visceral narrative film unfolds in three parts to describe loss. From our earliest experience of separation to the imperceptible violence associated with integrating to a new country when yours is no longer livable, Morning Circle follows a father and son in their intimate rituals as they prepare to start the day and head to kindergarten. Pose (Canada, 11 minutes) Director: Artur Andonian An aspiring model is pulled into the world of fashion after being given the chance to become the image of himself he has always dreamed of. But as he chases that image, he grows blind to the consequences surrounding him. Furious (France, 25 minutes) Director: Laurier Fourniau Tim is still dealing with the aftermath of his burnout. The lottery of temp work assigns him to care for Odette, an 81-year-old woman suffering from memory loss. Through a mysterious phenomenon, Odette’s memories begin to surface in the young man’s life. Growing attached to her, Tim sees it as a puzzle to piece together, in a search to fulfill his own quest for meaning. The Last Broadcast (China, 12 minutes) Director: Moris Amiryan An old shoemaker, who lives with memories of a childhood dream, saves money for a television to see his granddaughter. But he must make a difficult choice between illusion and reality. The Eel (Estonia, 26 minutes) Director: Kristiina Davidjants The Eel is a coming-of-age story about a 14-year-old country girl who feels more at home in a lake than among people. When she meets a charismatic dancer from the city, longing draws her into a world where reality is touched by myth. The film explores shame, transformation, and the seductive pull of becoming something else entirely.
