Full description from organizer

Join AAR&RI and artist Nat Morris to break bread, explore Amerikan Dream, and imagine a future rooted in hope and reconciliation. Breaking Bread: Dreaming Together An Evening of Art, Conversation, and Imagining What Comes Next We invite you to join the Anderson Area Remembrance & Reconciliation Initiative (AAR&RI) for a community gathering centered around a simple but powerful idea: when we share a meal together, we create space to listen, learn, and imagine a better future for our community. This evening will feature a conversation with artist Nat Morris about Amerikan Dream, his upcoming exhibition with fellow artist Shea Abramo. Building upon their earlier exhibition, Amerikan Gothic, this new body of work explores the complicated relationship between our shared history and the possibilities of our future. Through art, Morris and Abramo invite us to confront the challenges of racial and social injustice while imagining what might come next through hope, love, faith, repair, and reinvention. What does it mean to dream together? How can we acknowledge the painful chapters of our past while imagining a different future for our community? Dinner will be provided as we gather around tables, share stories, engage in meaningful conversation, and reflect on what it means to continue building the Beloved Community here in Anderson. Tuesday, October 13 | 5:30 PM ------ The Anderson Area Remembrance & Reconciliation Initiative (AAR&RI) is a community movement committed to remembering our past, reconciling our present, and building the Beloved Community. As a partner with the Equal Justice Initiative’s Community Remembrance Project, AAR&RI works to honor the memory of the five documented victims of racial terror lynching in Anderson County between 1894 and 1911. Through storytelling, historical research, education, community conversations, and fellowship, AAR&RI creates spaces where neighbors can confront difficult truths, build relationships, and continue the ongoing work of reconciliation. Remembering our past. Reconciling our present. Building the Beloved Community.
